A little bit about me
Shayla is a certified yoga teacher and nurse with over 10 years of experience in healthcare, dedicated to promoting holistic wellness. Yoga began as a personal practice for her in 2020, becoming a healing space for her mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being. Over time, her practice evolved into a deep passion, inspiring her to complete her 200hr YTT in Guatemala in 2023 and continue with a 100hr Yin & Restorative training through Tofino Yoga in 2024. Shayla’s heart lies in teaching gentle Hatha, Yin, and Restorative yoga, offering a calm and nurturing environment for others to reconnect with themselves. She values creating a safe and inclusive space where all levels and abiities are welcome. Shayla creates a space to listen inward and honour the whole self. Her classes are rooted in slowing down, moving with love and intention, and embracing presence over perfection — supporting each person’s unique path of self-realization.
Beyond my yoga practice and nursing work, my heart is fullest when I’m with the people and animals I love — my partner Jan, our dogs Ladybug and Murphy, and my friends and family. I’m a foodie who loves plant-based cooking and holistic nourishment, and I enjoy everything from cozy movie nights in to traveling and immersing myself in new cultures. With roots on both Vancouver Island and in Yellowknife, I carry a deep connection to these places that shape the way I live and share my practice.
